Raja Ampat
Raja Ampat is a group of islands off the Bird’s Head Peninsula at the western end of New Guinea. Its communities have long been connected by sea to the Moluccas and beyond, and material culture here reflects those exchanges.
Objects from the islands are catalogued here only when the locality is documented. Pieces attributed by style alone are labelled as such.
Editorial text in this demo is a sample. Regional and cultural statements on a live site are checked against published sources and cited.
